Since 3-31-06

Hello!

After more than seven years of "web-inactivity" we finally decided to update our family home page. In the same scope we also transferred our web-page from the original site, at the University of Maine, to our own domain, www.BlaserUSA.net.

The purpose of this website is to share some aspects of our life far, far away from our home country Switzerland. This site is, therefore, primarily for our families and our friends. There are basically three sections: a public section that is open for everybody, a private area requiring a password, and finally our day to day "workspace" a wiki

What's New?

9-7-2008:

One can almost speak of a tradition to leave SoCal in the summer for a bit to find some new places - mostly hopping from National Parks to National Park - which we have not yet visited. This year our we ventured through Arizona and Colorado up to Wyoming. It was a long trip but it was well worthwhile. We visited some beautiful places and had a couple of adventures that were new for us - a white water rafting trip was one of them. As usual we put a couple of pictures online. Enjoy!

This year's Red Bull Air Races were held in San Diego between the harbor and Coronado Island. As San Diego is only about two hours away from our home base in Redlands, there was no question that this event was booked by the Blaser family from the first moment we know about the race. For those having never seen a full scale airplane race (that includes us), this is really an amazing thing to watch. The circuit is relatively tight and the airplanes race at high speeds and close to the ground around the pylons. Although there was only ever one plane racing at a time (there were a couple of crossovers) this was a spectacular sight. - Check it out Sven, Erik, and I made some pictures. San Diego - our Red Bull Air Race Pictures. - The Official Red Bull Site with professional pictures.

As it is getting really hot down here in Southern California we decided to escape for a few days to much higher and cooler grounds to a place we hadn't visited so far. That place is Lake Tahoe. Situated along the California/Nevada border, Lake Tahoe is a bit North of Sacramento. It's elevation is all above 2000m so the temperature during the summer is very pleasant. - We had an excellent time up there, there are ample things to do for all kinds of tastes. As usual we copied some of the pictures we made during that trip to our Photo Album. - Enjoy and you all have a great Summer!
